Water Tube™ is a machine-blown polyethylene tube welded to form ribs creating a robust sealed tubular unit that can contain over 20 liters of water. Installed around a small tree or plant Water Tube™ is held in place by three wooden stakes. The water from Water Tube™ is distributed to the tree or plant via a specially made coil dripper. Water Tube is only filled once a month.
This unique tree guard does more than just protecting and watering the plant. This is the way it does it that stimulates growth rate and more importantly survival.
During the most critical time for a newly planted tree, Water Tube, once filled, constantly delivers water, at a regular and controlled rate during 16 days. The initial water flow starts out at 3.5 liters on day one diminishing to 500ml on the last day. From the 17th day the Water Tube is empty et will stay empty until the end of the month. As the water flow reduces from day to day, the roots spread out looking for humidity in the soil. The roots system growths quickly and the young tree matures faster becoming a stronger tree.
Amongst the numerous benefits of Water Tube™, there is one which is unique: the microclimate it creates around the plant. While filled with water, Water Tube™ offsets temperature around the young tree. When the atmosphere is hot, its wall of water and ultra-violet resistant outer jacket maintain cooler temperature around the tree. When the atmosphere is cold, the water cooling in the tube actually gives off heat. This process known as “latent heat of fusion” protects the plant even when the temperatures dip to below freezing point.
